DESCRIPTION

Exterior was designed by Stefano Righini, based in Italy. He has provided exterior design services to the most discerning superyachts. Stefano was well known as "a man of extraordinary human and creative intelligence" and one of the world's best-known boat designers.

Below decks, the Mangusta 105 has a vast, ten-window owner’s cabin amidships, a VIP suite in the bow, and twin-berth guest en suites to port and starboard. The motor yacht can accommodate 8 guests in 4 cabins. Headroom through the lower accommodation is an impressive 6'8", and the berths are all full size—even the singles are 30 inches wide. The aft crew accommodations are roomy and comfortable, with a pair of twin-berth en suites and a generous galley.

The salon is set up beautifully for entertainment and includes a day head. The massive aft teak cockpit has a hot tub, umbrella, garage door and swim ladder. The 105 is fitted with an impressive tonnage of entertainment equipment. Quality is exemplary. Interiors of lockers and drawers are as beautifully veneered and lacquered as the exteriors.

The 2001 105' Overmarine Mangusta is powered by twin 2700 hp MTU diesel engines with only 3100 hrs, giving her a maximum speed of 34 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots by twin ROLLS ROYCE KAMAWA JET DRIVES. Engines and drives are synchronized to one unit; a simple one-handed twisting action steers the boat, with the throttle lever right at your fingertips. It is an extraordinary way to exercise control over such a powerful machine; it works beautifully and takes minutes to get used to. The 105 is superbly balanced, equally responsive to both throttle and helm, and is a joy to drive for something of this size and displacement. Minimum planing speed to be a comfortable 20 knots or so. At 25 knots the big Mangusta is relaxed in the cruise mode. Cruising is what the 105 is all about—with a generous fuel capacity it has nearly a 500NM range at 20 knots and not much less at 25. Top speed is 34 knots.

The engine room further aft is also generous, even packed with gensets and air conditioning and watermarking equipment—as if the MTU V16s weren’t enough—with good headroom and walkaround space.

One glance at the helm console confirms that this is no ordinary motor yacht—thanks to multiple management and override systems built into the Rolls-Royce KaMeWa propulsion electronics; appearing to be twice the usual number of screens, dials, gauges, and monitors, and the control units themselves look outrageous. Taking the helm of this motor yacht is remarkably straightforward. There is a conventional wheel with one-quarter turn lock to lock, this being a pure fly-by-wire set-up—but the control units are the way to go.
